Barb Kruger - President

Barb Kruger is in her second term on the Mary Abbott Children's House board.  Before moving to Norman in 2011, she served on boards dealing with domestic violence, teen homelessness, and medically fragile babies. She and her husband, Lon, have two grown children and one granddaughter.

Dustin Horstkoetter - Vice President

Dustin Horstkoetter started his first term on the Mary Abbott Children's House board in January, 2016. He first began working with the Abbott House in 2005 as a child abuse detective. He is currently the Director of Safety & Security for Moore Public Schools after retiring from the Moore Police Department in 2015. Dustin is married to Laura and dad to their two amazing kids. Dustin loves watching his kids play sports, vacationing with his family, fishing, and running.

Autumn McMahon - Secretary

Autumn McMahon is a new member of the Mary Abbott Children's House Board, beginning in March, 2016. Autumn is currently the Community Relations Coordinator at the Oklahoma Electric Cooperative. Raised in Norman and inspired by her parents, she immersed herself in the non-profit sector from an early age. She co-founded the Teen Advisors of Norman (TAN), served as both an assistant and interim Executive Director of the Norman Community Foundation, and worked as an intern at the Sarkeys Foundation. She spent four years as an outside sales Media Consultant for Yellowbook in Denver before accepting her position as Development Director at Mary Abbott Children’s House in 2010. Most recently, she spent almost five years as the Director of Development at the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma. Autumn is actively involved with her church, the United Way of Norman, the Citizen’s Advisory Board (CAB), and the life of her husband Korey and daughter Rose.

Heather Woods O’Connell

Heather Woods O’Connell joined the Mary Abbott Children’s House Board of Directors in July 2011 and is currently serving as president. A real estate broker and entrepreneur, she launched her own commercial property management business in Norman in 2006. Heather has also been a board member for the Norman Downtowners Association since 2008 and is active with the Norman Chamber of Commerce and Norman Next. She has been an avid scuba diver most of her life and loves to travel and then scrapbook her adventures.

Barbara Henderson

Barbara Henderson has lived in Norman, with her husband, George, since 1967. They have seven children. Barbara served as the first chair of the Norman Human Rights Commission. She has volunteered for many boards in the Oklahoma City area including Oklahoma 2020, a visionary group of city leaders from across the state. Possibilities, Inc. is just one of many agencies that sprang from the work of Oklahoma 2020 with the mission to strengthen the ability of people to work together for community change. Other organizations that have benefited from Barbara’s involvement include Jazz in June and World Neighbors. Barbara enjoys gardening and doesn’t miss the chance to see an opera within 100 miles of Norman.

Katelynn Calonkey

Joining the board in 2016, Katelynn Calonkey is currently serving her first term on the Mary Abbott Children’s House Board. A Norman native and Norman High graduate, she attended Texas Christian University and then lived in Washington DC for 5 years. Upon returning to Norman in 2011, joined Mister Robert Fine Furniture & Design where she serves as Vice President. She serves on several boards and committees in the Norman community including Norman Downtowners Association, Downtown Norman Fall Fest, the Junior League of Norman and Sooner Stilettos. Additionally, Katelynn is a current member of Leadership Norman, class of 2017. In her free time, she enjoys time with her dog, traveling, running, vegetable gardening and painting.

Gail Grego

Gail Grego is a new member of the Mary Abbott Children's House Board, beginning in January, 2016. She has been a Registered Nurse for over twenty years, with a background in Critical Care and Emergency Nursing. Gail is currently the Director of Emergency Services for Norman Regional Health System, providing oversight for the Emergency Departments at the Porter Campus, HealthPlex Campus, and the new Norman Regional Moore, as well as EMSSTAT, the ambulance service for Moore, Norman, and the surrounding areas. Prior to becoming a nurse, Gail worked on the campus of the Texas School for the Deaf, and was an interpreter for the Deaf and Deaf-Blind. She has lived in Norman for twenty years, raising her two children there, with her son currently attending the Colorado School of Mines, and her daughter set to graduate from nursing school in 2017. She is also a proud grandmother of one grandson who lives in the Norman area as well. Gail has been actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America for the past ten years, both as a Troop and Medical volunteer, and her son is an Eagle Scout. Gail enjoys spending time with her family and traveling, having made several trips to China, where one of her brothers currently resides.

Kevin Hopper

Kevin Hopper has been involved with Abbott House since 2003, having served multiple terms on the board.  He is a Vice President and Commercial Lender with MidFirst Bank.  Kevin is married to Shelley and is the proud father of a son and a daughter.  He serves on several boards and committees including Norman Public School Foundation, The Christmas Store of Cleveland County, Rebuilding Together, as a previous United Way Campaign Pacesetter Co-Chair and is a member of the Norman Rotary Club.  Kevin enjoys coaching his kids which leaves very little time for other interests including golf and tennis.

Scott Beck

Scott is the Principal at Norman High School. Dr. Beck has also served in Norman Public Schools as an Assistant Principal and as a social studies teacher. Prior to coming to Norman in 2004, Scott worked in the Moore Public Schools, Wayne County, Georgia, and at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School in Oklahoma City.

Scott holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, a Master's degree in Education Administration, Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Oklahoma and a PhD in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from OU as well.

Scott lives in Norman with his wife and kids.

Cindy West
Emily Reed

Emily Reed is a Certified Nonprofit Professional by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and one of 5600 Certified Fund Raising Executives in the entire world.  Emily began as the Development Coordinator for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Oklahoma County where she led the organization’s fundraising and communications efforts before becoming the Director of Alumni Outreach for the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma. In September 2015, she was promoted to Director of Development for the College.

Emily serves as Vice Chair for the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Oklahoma City. She was named the Oklahoma Chapter of AFP’s first ever Outstanding Young Fundraising Professional in 2014 and now serves on their board as President-Elect. She also teaches social media workshops for the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits and serves as an “AFPeep,” or social media ambassador, for the international Association of Fundraising Professionals. She lives in Norman with her husband Terry and her dog Akira.
